DACKS Successfully Names the World’s Largest Container Ship

On August 8th, the world’s largest class container ship, “OOCL FELIXSTOWE,” was successfully named at DACKS. Leaders from the China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association, Orient Overseas Container Line, Hainan Port and Shipping, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, and other related organizations attended the naming ceremony.

Ms. He Lijun, serving as the ship’s godmother, named the vessel and launched the champagne, officially naming DE125 as “OOCL FELIXSTOWE.”

Mr. Yang Zhijian, the Chairman of the Board of OOCL, and Mr. Liang Yanfeng, the Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, delivered speeches at the ceremony. They welcomed the leaders and guests attending the ceremony on behalf of both parties, expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the group and all stakeholders, reviewed and looked forward to the good cooperation between OOCL and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, and sent their best wishes for “OOCL FELIXSTOWE” as it sets sail.

“OOCL FELIXSTOWE” is the second ship named within three months in the continuous construction of the 24188 TEU ultra-large container ships by DACKS, and it is the largest ship “birthed” by Dock No. 2 since its official operation. This signifies DACKS’capability to meet the continuous construction demands of shipping line operators.

As the world’s largest class container ship and a major technological achievement transformation project in Dalian, “OOCL FELIXSTOWE” features the latest in environmental design, integrating the newest technological achievements and intelligent capabilities. It possesses green energy efficiency, large loading capacity, and high levels of intelligence, significantly optimizing operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, aligning with the green, low-carbon, and intelligent development trends in the shipping industry.

Previously, “OOCL FELIXSTOWE”‘s sister ship, the first 24188 TEU container ship “OOCL PIRAEUS” built by DACKS, was delivered and put into operation on May 30th. Its fuel efficiency, container capacity, operational speed, and safety all reach world-leading levels, earning full recognition from the shipowner. Not long ago, “OOCL PIRAEUS” arrived at the Port of Piraeus, Greece, receiving a water gate salute from the port authority, contributing to COSCO SHIPPING’s dual-brand container fleet’s mission to “carry the world.” The naming of “OOCL FELIXSTOWE” once again witnesses the good cooperation between OOCL and DACKS, showcasing the shipbuilder’s brand strength and dedication to quality, and reflects COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry’s support and historical mission in empowering the group’s marine business.

In the design and construction process of “OOCL FELIXSTOWE” and its series of ships, DACKS, under the leadership of its Party Committee, fully leveraged the advantages of Party leadership, adhered to the core concept of “creating value,” insisted on Party leadership, deepened the integrated development system of “major Party building,” played the Party Committee’s role in “setting direction, managing the overall situation, and ensuring implementation,” proactively seized the “new tracks” of “new energy business” and “digital intelligent manufacturing,” and made new breakthroughs and progress in “green production, digital operation, and intelligent manufacturing,” providing assurance for the high-quality and efficient construction of the series of ships.

With “OOCL FELIXSTOWE” successfully named and ready to set sail, DACKS will further accelerate technological innovation based on market and customer needs, optimize ship design, build product brands, deeply implement comprehensive lean management, enhance the level of “intelligent manufacturing,” implement green production, improve the quality and efficiency of ship construction, design, and build more high-performance ships, contributing more DACKS strength to COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry’s goal of becoming “leading in China, world-class” in development.
