Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. was established on July 18, 2007, with a registered capital of 2.62 billion yuan and a total investment of about 6.55 billion yuan. It is the second modern large-scale ship-building enterprise invested by COSCO Shipping Group and KHI, with a share ratio of 51:49.

Based in Lvshun, DACKS is a key project in the national "Medium and Long-term Development Plan of Ship-building Industry". The shipyard covers a land area of 1.88 million square meters, a water area of 1.66 million square meters, a shoreline of 1,955 meters, and a total construction area of 440,000 square meters. The main production facilities include two large docks, three large outfitting quays, one material wharf, one sub-assembly workshop, two assembly workshops, one pipe processing and outfitting workshop, and three painting workshops, which achieve a production pattern of "2 dockyards and four berths". DACKS mainly builds large bulk carriers, VLCCs, VLOCs, large container ships, PCCs, and other high-tech, high-value-added ships, and green ships using clean energy, with an annual ship-building capacity of 2.4 million deadweight tons.

By promoting network construction, digital design, information management, and automation equipment, DACKS comprehensively promotes the deep integration of industrialization and information technology. The design efficiency is greatly improved through 100% digital modeling of products, multi-specialty and remote parallel design, and collaborative work. More than 20 automatic and intelligent production lines, such as Full-Printer Machine and Robotic Production Line for Sub-assembly Welding, have been built and implemented, significantly improving production efficiency and reducing the product cycle. Full-Printer Machine and FCB/RF automatic welding machine are China's first application equipment set. Intelligent three-dimensional warehouse boosts intelligent manufacturing among only a few shipyards in China. The lean management level, intelligent manufacturing application, production efficiency, and quality assurance ability of DACKS are at the forefront of the industry in China; Hull modeling rate, pre-outfitting rate, steel utilization rate, ship-building production efficiency, and other indicators have reached the level of international first-class shipyards of Japan and South Korea. DACKS focuses on the research and development of the most advanced technologies in the world ship-building industry, constantly introduces advanced experience, continues scientific and technological innovation, and owns core technologies at the international first-class level. Among them, many advanced technologies of the self-designed 20,000 TEU container ship are leading in China and the world， such as the overall design and construction, the high-efficiency ship-building, the intelligent manufacturing of sub-assembly lines, and so on. The 308,000 DWT VLCC (YUAN KUN YANG) built by DACKS was entitled "the most energy-efficient intelligent VLCC" by the EWORLDSHIP as one of China's ten most distinctive ships in 2020.

In 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology awarded DACKS the following awards: intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration enterprise and intelligence application pilot demonstration enterprise, integration of the two standardization pilot demonstration enterprise, and manufacturing "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" platform pilot demonstration enterprise. In addition, DACKS has been recognized as a national high-tech enterprise, Liaoning Province and Dalian Enterprise Technology Center, Dalian Industrial Design Center, Dalian Engineering Research Center, Dalian Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Enterprise, etc. In 2021, DACKS won the eighth Dalian Mayor Quality Award.
